Guard to host pollution responder training in Corpus Christi, Texas
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi
is scheduled to host a Natural Disaster Operational Workgroup/Pollution
Responder College June 25-29, 2018.
Who: Coast Guard active duty and reserve, Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality, Texas General Land Office, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service, Texas Parks and Wildlife, port partners, local oil spill
response organizations, and the Texas A&M Oil Spill School.

When: 9 -11 a.m. Thursday June 28, 2018
The course will include training on oil properties, boom types and
strategies, anchor assembly exercise, knot tying practical and a tour of the
Texas A&M Oil Spill School and warehouse.
Field exercises will consist of various on water exercises at the Corpus
Christi Area Oil Spill Control Association, including skimming operations,
shoreline protection booming, U-booming, exclusion booming, containment booming
and berm/barrier and shoreline strategy training on the beach across from Texas

arrive by 8:30 a.m Thursday. Media interested in attending any of the classroom
