GALVESTON, TEXAS: The need for blood remains constant and patients continue to depend on the generosity of blood donors to meet that need. On Wednesday June 27, Moody Bank will host a blood drive at the Galveston Downtown Banking Center from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

This event will benefit those who were affected by the events in Santa Fe, and it will greatly benefit MD Anderson in their efforts to keep up with cancer patients that need blood transfusions daily.

Local blood banks saw a surge in blood donations about a month ago, when the Santa Fe tragedy took place. Moody Bank President and CEO Vic Pierson said he wants the community to keep in mind the need for blood is constant.

“What took place on May 18 in Santa Fe, reminds us that tragedy can strike when we least expect it,” Pierson said. “We know that blood donation saves lives and we want to encourage everyone to donate if they can.”
