Harris County Precinct 8
Phil Sandlin, Constable

PRESS RELEASE April 3, 2019

Shortly before 5:00 PM this evening, Deputies with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office apprehended a robbery suspect in the 200 block of El Dorado Blvd. in Clear Lake.  Precinct 8 Deputy John Campbell was on patrol when he was flagged down by the victim, who advised he had been robbed at gunpoint.  The victim described the suspect’s vehicle to the Deputy, which was a short distance away stopped at a red light on El Dorado Blvd. west of Galveston Rd.  Deputy Campbell was able to get behind the suspect and followed him to the Carl’s Jr. on El Dorado Blvd. near the Gulf Fwy.  It was there that Deputies took the man into custody without incident.

Investigation revealed the robbery occurred outside of the SS Vinyl N More Game Room located in the 15000 of Galveston Rd.  According to the victim, the suspect, identified as 38 year old Willard Guillian, entered the business and asked the owner for money.  The owner recognized the man as a regular customer and when she declined to give him cash, he walked out of the business but remained in the parking lot. A short time later, the owner’s son arrived and Guillian displayed a handgun demanding money from him.  Guillian allegedly threatened to shoot the victim if he did not comply.  When the victim did not hand over money to the suspect, he fled the scene in his vehicle.  The victim followed, and when he saw Deputy Campbell, he flagged him down and reported the incident.

Deputies recovered a black air soft pistol from the Guillian’s vehicle, which was confirmed to have been used in the robbery.  He was subsequently transported to our Clear Lake station for processing and will be booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of Robbery.  No one was injured during this event.

Chief Deputy
Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office
