Thursday, April 11, 2019, at approximately 11:00am, the La Porte Police Department (LPPD) received a call for a commercial vehicle and bicyclist crash, in the 10800 block of Fairmont Parkway. The adult male cyclist was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The La Porte Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were quickly dispatched to the crash scene.  Upon arrival, it was immediately discovered the operator of the bicycle was seriously injured.  The cyclist was transported by La Porte EMS to HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast Hospital, Pasadena Texas, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. The cyclist will be identified by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Officer pending the notification of next of kin.

The preliminary investigation revealed the cyclist unlawfully crossed Fairmont Parkway, made contact with the commercial vehicle, resulting in his injuries.

The LPPD Crash Reconstruction Team contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Vehicular Crimes division who assisted with the initial investigation. No charges are expected for the driver of the semi-truck and trailer, who remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.
