This year we will mark 15 years since Grapevine Police Officer Darren Medlin was killed in the line of duty.  Instead of our usual ceremony outside our building, this year we are holding our annual remembrance ceremony at Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, at the conclusion of the Darren Medlin Memorial Golf Tournament on June 12, 2019 (approximately 1pm).

Grapevine Police recently updated our police badges and badge numbers (so now officer’s badge numbers reflect their order of when they joined the PD, so the first officer is badge number 1, and so on).  To mark this year’s anniversary, we are gifting Darren’s family with our new police badge, made with Officer Medlin’s new badge number. We are also presenting a memorial chair to the department with his badge, along with a memorial challenge coin and plaques for Officer Medlin’s widow and mother.

The ceremony will take place in the dining area inside the Cowboys Golf Club.  Space is limited, but there should be enough room for some cameras to set up and plug into the podium mic.  We anticipate the ceremony to start around 1pm, but the time is fluid depending on when everyone finishes with the golf tournament. We suggest everyone be in place by 12:45.

Let me know if you plan to attend so I can make sure we have enough space.
