COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS – Copperas Cove Police are investigating a traffic collision which occurred during the morning hours of January 13, 2020.
 
At approximately 6:40 A.M. Copperas Cove Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of South 7th Street and Urbantke Lane regarding a vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The initial investigation revealed that a white vehicle struck the pedestrian in the 600 block of Urbantke Lane and fled the scene.  
 
The 32-year-old male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries as a result of the collision. He was pronounced deceased by Coryell County Justice of the Peace William Price on January 13, 2020 at approximately 07:11 A.M.  
 
Detectives located the suspect vehicle during their investigation of the incident. Contact was made with the driver and he was subsequently arrested and charged with accident involving personal injury or death.
 Update:
 On January 13, 2020 Lance Tyler Anderson was arrested for the charge of accident involving personal injury or death (Second Degree Felony). On January 14, 2020 Judge William Price arraigned Lance and issued a100,000-surety bond.
 
The victim in this case was identified as William Devauri Ames a 32-year-old resident of Copperas Cove.
