The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the FBI is proud to announce the arrest of Luis Calderon in El Salvador. Calderon has been a fugitive for 29 years. A press conference will be held on March 9th, 2020 at 2:00PM. The conference will be held at the Sheriff’s Office, 601 54th St, Galveston.

Luis Calderon was originally charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Attempted Murder of Diane Sanchez of Houston in 1991. A short time after his arrest his bond was reduced and Calderon was released from the Galveston County Jail. He has remained a fugitive since that time until his arrest on February 11th, 2020. The original investigation was also featured on America’s Most Wanted and Rescue 911.

The arrest came as the result of a collaborative effort on behalf of members of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, ICE, INTERPOL and the Department of Justice.

Calderon is in custody in El Salvador awaiting extradition back to Texas.
