Arthur Brown Jr. was executed Thursday at the Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville for the capital murder of four people.

“Arthur Brown and his partners killed four people as they tried to wipe out an entire family, a criminal act of devastating scope,” Ogg said. “And even though he was identified by the eyewitnesses who survived, he still refused to take responsibility and tried to escape any kind of accountability ever since.”

Brown, now 52, and two others were convicted for the 1992 murder of several family members, including a pregnant woman, and their neighbor during a drug deal.

Brown, Marion Dudley and Tony Dunson went to the home of Jose and Rachel Tovar to buy cocaine and instead decided to rob them and kill them on June 20, 1992.

The six victims were bound with torn bed sheets and all shot in the back of the head, execution style. By the time police arrived, three victims were dead: Jose Tovar, Jessica Quinones (who was seven months pregnant) and Frank Farias. Of the three survivors, Audrey Brown later died in a hospital, bringing the total number of murder victims to four.

The remaining two survivors identified Brown, Dudley and Dunson as their attackers.

Dudley was also convicted of capital murder and was executed by lethal injection on Jan. 25, 2006. Dunson was convicted of capital murder and given a life sentence.
