On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 7:39 p.m., the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) received a 911 call from a woman who was reporting that her husband was suicidal and that he was armed with a gun while threatening her and refusing to leave their residence.

South Division Patrol Officers were dispatched to the residence located in the 5600 block of Wedgworth Road and arrived on scene at 7:45 p.m. The officers observed the suspect sitting on the front porch of the residence armed with a handgun. The officers attempted to speak with the suspect and told him to put his weapon down, but he refused to comply. During this encounter, the man presented officers with a deadly threat which resulted in three officers firing their handguns in response, striking the suspect.

Officers provided medical aid to the suspect, and he was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The suspect is currently listed in stable condition.

A weapon was located in the immediate area where the suspect was taken into custody.

This information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing.

The Major Case Unit and the Internal Affairs Unit responded to the scene and are conducting investigations. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s office also responded to the scene.

The Crisis Intervention Team was also enroute to the dispatched call, but this event occurred prior to their arrival on scene.
