Police said the incident took place Thursday afternoon at Mike’s Gun Room.

A Richardson gun store owner shot a would-be robber Thursday afternoon, police say, and three others fled after the attempted crime.

Police said the incident took place about 3 p.m. at Mike’s Gun Room in the 1000 block of East Belt Line Road.

Four people — two of them brandishing handguns — walked into the store and the owner fired at them, striking one of the four.

The others fled and drove west in a silver or gray car, possibly a Chevrolet Impala, with a paper license plate, police said. Police did not provide detailed suspect descriptions.

The wounded person was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, and that person’s identity has not been released by police.

Anyone with information about the incident may call police at 972-744-4800.

OK, these guys are future champions of the Darwin Awards. Do you really think you are going to out marksman a gun shop owner? Bwa ha ha. Maybe next time the job will be completed and save a hospital bed for someone worthy of being healed.
