HoustonConstable's Jail Three in Burglaries Harris County Precinct 8
Phil Sandlin, Constable PRESS RELEASE September 21, 2022 On September 21, 2022 at approximately 3:20 AM, Precinct 8 Deputy J. Mitchell with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office was actively patrolling the parking lot of Almeda Mall in the 12200 block of the Gulf Freeway when a Burglary in progress call was dispatched inside the mall. While searching the area, Deputy Mitchell located an occupied vehicle with its headlights off parked across the street from the mall. As Deputy Mitchell approached the vehicle, he noticed the front license plate was covered with a piece of clothing. Deputy Mitchell detained the driver and immediately after, observed two males wearing dark clothing running through the mall parking lot. One of the fleeing suspects reportedly pointed a handgun at a wrecker driver who was also in the parking lot. As Deputy Mitchell attempted to escort the detained subject to his patrol car, the man broke away from his grasp and began to flee on foot with handcuffs. Deputy Mitchell was able to apprehend the subject who was later identified as 28 year old Telvin Leavean McMillion. Responding Precinct 8 and HPD units arrived on scene and set up a perimeter of the area. One of the fleeing suspects was found hiding in nearby bushes and was identified as 39 year old Jubbar Ballee Boothe. Boothe was found to be in possession of several trash bags, burglary tools and an assortment of jewelry. The third suspect was found hiding in a dumpster and when apprehended, a handgun was recovered from inside. That suspect was identified as 27 year old Cameron Zonell of Houston. A check of Houston’s information revealed a prior felony conviction for Robbery. On-scene investigation revealed that two stores were broken into inside the mall and over $514,000 worth of merchandise was stolen in total. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted several charges on all three subjects. McMillion was charged with Escape and Burglary of a Business, Boothe was charged with Burglary of a Business and Houston was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Weapon and Burglary of a Business.
