One man was wounded and another arrested in a shooting at Kemah’s entertainment district Sunday evening, police said.
Leonel
Hernandez, 31, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
after the shooting about 8 p.m. at the corner of Third Street and
Bradford Avenue, Kemah Police Chief Holland Jones said.
Police allege Hernandez and another man got into a fight outside a bar in the Lighthouse District, Jones said.
Hernandez is accused of drawing a handgun and shooting the other man in the leg, police said.
The wounded man was taken to a local hospital and released Monday, Jones said.
The man also suffered injuries to his face in the fight, Jones said.
A security guard from the nearby Kemah Boardwalk detained Hernandez, who was arrested when police arrived.
Hernandez
was transported to the Galveston County Jail on Monday morning.
Hernandez hadn’t gone before a magistrate judge and had a bond set as of
Monday afternoon, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
